My students are a wonderful group of first and second graders who have overcome many of life's obstacles at a young age, but nevertheless give their all. They are eager to learn but range in their capabilities from above grade level, to on grade level, and one to two grades below. There are 3 who qualify for an intervention program and several who speak English as a Second Language. Our school has just qualified as a Title 1 school and over 40% free and reduced lunch.
