The engineering process will encourage students to engage in inquiry and design, which for many will be a first time. Students have studied such things as energy transfer and the law of conservation of mass, which will be applied to the bridge project. The goal is to build a bridge that is beautiful and functional by holding the weight of various objects. Students will create a bridge using only 200 wood sticks and regular glue. Each group of 3-4 students will have to design, craft, and test the bridge with weight to determine the ultimate bridge in the 8th grade!
