My students are young, energetic, and excited about learning. They excel when they are given hands-on activities and manipulatives to explore and learn with. Individual whiteboards would allow my students to practice handwriting in a fun and exciting way. Mastering our letters is crucial for their journey towards learning how to read. We would also all benefit from a class set of oil pastels to help grow their creativity. I believe in the arts, and want to introduce this to my students and allow them to express themselves through art. We will do many projects with the oil pastels, based on our unit of study. This will supplement our learning and make school an exciting place to be. This is my students' first interaction with school and they are learning how to become organized. We complete many assignments and projects throughout the day, and as of right now we leave them on their desks until the end of the day. This mode of organization is OK, but their papers consume their little desks and their papers get mixed up with their neighbors. A class set of mailboxes would be a place where my students could place their work when they are done and clear their desk for our next assignment. This will help them develop organizational skills that they will carry with them throughout their lives. As a first year teacher, I want to provide my students with much more than I have right now. My goal is to make learning fun and make sure my students love school. I believe these items for my class will help me achieve these goals and allow my students to look forward to coming to school each day.
