My first graders love to learn about various children's authors. This year, we will be studying Norman Bridwell, Kevin Henkes, Eric Carle, Mo Willems, Jan Brett, Laura Numeroff, Marc Brown, Dr. Seuss, Lois Ehlert, Mercer Mayer, Gail Gibbons, and Arnold Lobel. This project will allow my students to have books from the authors we are studying in their own hands to read. Through funding, I will be able to purchase books by the authors I want my students to grow and love. Through studying these authors, my hope is that my students will each find an author he or she loves and can continue reading other books by that author.
