Many of my scholars do not have access to a computer outside of school and therefore are way behind most children their age in regards to media literacy and ability to independently navigate through the internet, Google Drive, Slides etc. My scholars are not only behind the curve in terms of reading and writing, but more significantly for the future, they are even further behind in their ability to "read" or "access" texts and sources that they uncover through the endless maze known as the internet. The daily/weekly use of Chromebooks will enable my kids to become more engaged citizens as we create presentations, videos, documents through Google Classroom (newly opened in our school) and the simple, basic understanding of what a trusted source on the internet looks like versus citing a meme or facebook link.
