My name is Mrs. King. I teach in a lower income Urban school district in Youngstown, Ohio. All students receive a free breakfast and lunch. My community classroom is a 2nd-4th grade Autism Unit. There are four community learners in the unit of which three are non-verbal. We use a lot of visuals, sign and body language to communicate with each other. They love hands on projects and cooking. In order for my students to gain access to the curriculum like their same age/grade level peers and increase their ability to communicate. Students with Autism also have sensory needs. I I am prayerful that our community will be sponsored.
