Your generous contribution to my project will be used in several critical ways, during my Response to Intervention model of instruction. My students generally read the same book more than once in order to develop their fluency and overall understanding of the text. One way to practice fluency (speed, accuracy and prosody) is to record their oral reading of a text and have them listen to it, so they can hear themselves. This affords students a glimpse into how they sound when they are reading and speaking, allowing them to improve upon their speaking and reading skills. Using a Samsung Galaxy, I can record each student as they read, and save them into different audio files organized by individual student, so they are easily accessed by students. My students and I will also each this technology to practice phonics, vocabulary and reading comprehension skills using various district sponsored websites and apps. These websites provide student reports that I can use to design small group and individualized instruction, based on need and reinforce the skills they have mastered!
