The sublimation process is a great launching board into design. They are given a problem, materials, and limitations with what they are going to create. Each sample is called a substrate and requires different production times, temperatures, and pressures. While we are not in the physical lab, my students don't have access to printers or presses, which means that while they have worked on the creation of a design, they have no physical artifact except what is on the screen or paper. With the materials listed, my students will be able to learn the process of design by sublimation using small substrates. Once they are finished with the physical design, they will create their own artifacts by using an iron to place those designs on the material and use that material to receive feedback from others.
