First Graders are active learners! They have a need to move frequently. Traditional classroom chairs limit this movement. My students often fall off the chairs because they are tipping, fidgeting, and constantly shifting positions. Stability balls have been shown to increase focus because they do not discourage the natural tendency for young bodies to be in motion. Instead, the balls aid in good posture development and allow for a positive way to channel excess energy. My son's teacher used stability balls in her first grade classroom last year and the students loved it. She saw increased attention and better student performance at desk work activities. I would love the opportunity to help my students become healthier, happier learners through the use of stability balls.
