Just as my 70 students' backgrounds are different, so are their reading levels and interests. This is my second year teaching and I was lucky enough to be provided with a decent amount of books by previous 5th grade teachers. Unfortunately, these books are older (in age and content) and not as interesting to the students of today. I have a small group of new books that students can't wait to get their hands on, but unfortunately that is what they have to do...wait. My dream is that each of my students, no matter their ability or interests, can find at least 3-4 books on my bookshelves that get them engaged in reading!
