Our students in this day and age are already literate with everything digital. My goal as a teacher is to help my students become ready for the digital world when they graduate out of high school. Coding has become a valuable skill that is already becoming a necessity in the 21st Century. My kids need to be challenged and this is the perfect way to get them thinking outside of the box. Osmo Genius kit uses iPads to code directions, and thankfully we are now a 1:1 district this year! Coding teaches logic and problem solving skills. The kids will be able to use specific pieces to make the monster move across the iPad screen and complete a task. This is very similar to other coding programs, but more hands on for the elementary age. This will make a huge difference in the structure in my classroom as well. I look forward to using it in a small group setting. It will give me the freedom to meet with other students. I have had the opportunity to use this program for a little bit of time and I absolutely fell in love with it! I believe that having this option for my kids will help them to be excited about learning!
