These kidney shaped activity tables will allow me to move easily throughout my classroom and meet with small groups of students to have more 1:1 instruction. With the every changing needs of students, I try to scaffold lessons, and break them down into different levels (Mastery, Above Mastery, Below Mastery). For example, one group may be working on understanding the vocabulary of that chapter, while another group has mastered that and is applying the terms into a reading comprehension activity. These table will allow me to meet with those small groups and be in front of all of them, while conducting an activity such as flash card review of the vocabulary or asking them questions about what they just read and having a small group discussion. Stations are a great way to initiate this differentiation within a classroom, meeting the needs of all types of learners. These tables will help with the organization of that. Additionally, they will allow the functionality of and movement within the classroom to flow better.
