Last year I completely redesigned my room to allow students more choice and flexible seating options. Students worked in collaborate work spaces that were comfortable to them including a standing table, clusters of desks with normal chairs or stability balls, and "living room" style areas. It was a huge success with over 90% of students meeting their growth expectation. I wish to continue with this model making a few modifications to better meet the needs of all of my students. These table top carrels will allow me to use tables during collaborate opportunities but still assess the students as individuals when necessary. The foam ottomans will provide more seating options and hold up better to 8th graders than bean bags or floor pillows.
