Many of my students' parents are struggling to make ends meet and work multiple entry level jobs. My students have parents who do not have the crucial time needed to spend with their children; time that is needed for helping them with homework, and listening to them read. This year, I am beginning a "student and senior citizen buddies" project. Each of my 3rd grade students will be paired up with a senior citizen at a local senior care facility. The ages of the seniors range from 70-99 years old.
