Do you remember your favorite class or grade? What caused you to treasure those moments of the past? In our classroom, there are different personalities, opinions, and ways of doing things; this variety makes life interesting;it also provides valuable opportunities for us to expand our thinking and enrich an open-ended learning environment. My goal is for my students to become life-long learners:I want them to view their education like stars that collaborate with the moon. My multicultural second graders come from various socioeconomic backgrounds, and they have different learning styles. They also enjoy a variety of activities: buddy reading, peer conferences, math manipulative puzzles, Jazzy calm coloring, and chess. They are also learning that we all make mistakes and poor decisions at times. However, how we cope with the consequences of our actions are based on our social emotional competency.
