My classroom has been provided with 2 Apple Computers which are rarely functioning. I find that my students have more success with projects that they are invested in. Without access to the the internet, it makes it very difficult. Students argue over the computers and there is limited, if any, information that can be obtained from the the textbooks. The world revolves around technology; in preparing our students for career readiness, they need to know how to utilize technology. The students are engaged in learning the general education curriculum in current times. We need the resources to provide an entryway to understanding current and relevant topics. With these Chromebooks, my students will be able to access relevant information at their own pace. In Living Environment, the students rarely gain true understanding of a topic from reading the textbook. The assignments that are successful in my class are those that require the students to explore and research a given topic. In our English Language Arts class, we are creating a magazine by researching and writing expository essays. This is impossible to do with 2 broken computers. This is frustrating for my students who already have challenges regulating their emotions and performing in school. They want to learn, but need the tools. Having these Chromebooks in my classroom will be will be incredibly useful and will go to good use!
