We will continue to explore the theme of 'Power' and how it affects the human psyche through reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. We will build on the different perspectives that we have read so far in Antigone by Sophocles and Night by Elie Wiesel. Students will expound on their investigative thinking about the nature of the human condition as it concerns the desire for the acquisition of power, how leaders use their power, how citizens are affected by differing uses of power, and the nature of human categorization by reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Learning about these topics will lead these students into attempting to solving the current issues of our nation by looking at the differing persepectives of examples of peoples that have come before.
