Our class has two overarching goals; one is to learn the academic skills necessary to succeed in seventh grade language arts class, the second is to enhance and improve perceptions of a variety of cultural norms and expectations. My learners often come from low income or under served populations and there is often a need to gain a sense of community and belonging to something greater than themselves. The t-shirts have a deeper meaning than just a shirt. The uniformity of these Golden Tiger t-shirts will create a sense of belonging to a group. Middle school students often struggle with finding a place in which to fit, especially learners that are not involved in sports or clubs. Our team shirts will be personalized with paint pens and our team logo, so please give a little so they can gain A LOT!
