Children with autism highly benefit from the use of technology in many areas of their learning. These areas include, but are not limited to, communication, behavior, social and academic needs. Working in an inner city low income/high poverty school district means that my students do not get the monetary funding/support they need and deserve. My preschool students will be able to increase their independence and gain knowledge in a learning style that best suits their needs through accessing specialized apps on iPad devices. By providing my students with access to iPads, they will able to use apps such as "Proloquo2go" to support nonverbal students with communication, "Social Detective" app to support social skills training, as well as academic and life skills apps that are specially designed for children with autism such as the "Autism iHelp" app series. The iPads will also be used daily by staff members within our autism classroom to record and graph data, track student progress and create individualized programs based on each child's specific needs.
