From my geometry students to my AP calculus students, I have seen the spark in their eyes when they learn of the accomplishments that their peers have had in the areas of aviation, math, and robotics. Much of the success of our school programs is due to the tireless efforts of our program advisors and to access to quality teaching materials to give our students the best experiences possible. For this project, I wish to improve upon the learning experiences of my students through the use of drones and their applications in a variety of competitions, research projects, and pilot training here at our school. In order to grow our program to reach more students at our school and around Las Vegas, I need two professional drones with high-quality cameras, propellers, and cases to help our students develop applications for the emerging drone industry - an exciting career area for my students! When our Aviation club won the GAMA Build-A-Plane competition and traveled to Washington state in 2014, I knew we had something special here at our school. From this one experience, our students' lives changed dramatically over the course of one year - many of them now going on to become pilots, aerospace engineers, and other careers in business aviation. I want to bring this type of change to all of my students, and I will need these materials to help me do so.
