I work at a Title 1 school where 100 percent of the students receive free lunch. Studies have shown that the more activity a child engages in, the healthier they are; resulting in better academic performance. We have a Healthy Active Child program that we use in the school that monitors the students active time. In our Physical Education classes, students monitor their heart rate and steps. The project will allow more of our students to monitor their heart rate. The materials will make a difference in our students learning and lives by helping them to become life long healthy learners.
