My classroom is in great need of up to date technology to help engage students and serve their need and love for science. We are not yet at the level of technology to meet their needs as inventive science learners. Most of my students' lives are limited to their neighborhoods and their backyards. This grant will ensure students many possibilities in experiencing the world of science. I am requesting a SmartMicroscope 5M exhibited by SmartSchools Systems at the LATM Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Students will be using SmartMicroscope 5M to investigate and see their world up close as never thought possible. They will use the SmartMicroscope 5M as part of daily STEM stations. My students desire the interaction with updated technology to take them outside of their culture, stimulate their love of science, and use of technology. My students will not want to be absent! Therefore, our attendance numbers will increase as well.My students will remember their 5th grade year as being their best school year. It will be the year that will create future science majors.
