All that our students want to do is fit in and keep up with their classmates, and after years of begging, our district has finally approved the use of iPads for our visually impaired students. They bought the iPads and now they are done, but we need accessories to make the iPads the most useful possible. The iPads will give our students personal devices that will allow them to access materials that the other students can see without modifications. With the iPads, we can enlarge materials, send electronic copies of materials directly to the students, screen share any information that is at a distance directly to the students' seats, take notes, submit assignments electronically, read books and many other tasks. At one time, each of these tasks required different devices and technologies to accomplish creating quite a burden on both the student and teachers. The different iPad stands will allow students with varying impairments access their iPads in their wheelchairs, at their desks, in their special chairs, and in other settings. The keyboards will allow our General Education students who are using their iPads to complete assignments to type notes, essays, and other work into their iPads with a standard QWERTY keyboard. This will also promote the learning of keyboarding skills which our children will almost definitely need in high school, college and later in their careers. The styluses will be used for children who have trouble accessing the iPads due to touch sensitivity or motor control issues.
