Each student in our school has their own MacBook computer, which allows innovative learning to happen in the classroom each day. With the increase in the daily use of technology, students are increasingly more uncomfortable communicating with other students in the classroom. In order to continue to encourage students to improve communication skills, build problem solving strategies, and connect personally with their peers in the classroom, we are in need of board games and activities so students can disconnect (from technology) to connect (with peers)! My classroom's ‘disconnect to connect' theme this year is imperative to helping teenage brains continue to grow and develop. By participating in brain-building activities, students will build logic skills as well as improve inter-personal communication with their classmates. Each of these games helps students to build relationships with their peers while also keeping their brain busy and engaged. These games and activities improve students learning by increasing their ability to solve simple problems, participate in STEM activities, and learn more about other students in their class.
