Many of my students are coming from difficult home lives and several socioeconomic challenges. They do not always get the chance to experience field trips/cultural experiences due to lack of funds. All too often my students miss out on a great experience due to the fact that they just can't afford to go. Students have been learning about restaurants, food, and food preparation vocabulary and grammar in their Spanish classes. They have been demonstrating an understanding of the traditions, products and perspectives of the culture between Spanish speaking countries and the United States. I want to provide my students with an opportunity to use the world language both within and beyond the school setting for personal enjoyment, enrichment and active participation. Having an opportunity to go to an authentic Spanish restaurant and enjoy authentic Spanish food is the way to accomplish this task.
