By giving my students flexible seating options I am allowing them to make seating choices that are good for them all the while enabling them to have the opportunity to have some control over their learning. Currently I do not have a lot of options to provide this opportunity for them. During their independent work time they can take clipboards and work on the floor or under desks. They have the option of working at another table. They are also to work at my desk or at the computer desk. Students who are comfortable are students who are motivated. When students are allowed to freely choose their work areas I have noticed a huge change in their engagement. Students are more engaged and do not need frequent reminders to stay on tasks. They are making good chooses for themselves and choose spots where they know they will get their tasks accomplished. I have selected products that will hopefully provide more engaging seating for them. I have witnessed first hand how this can change the learning environment for students.
