One of the biggest challenges my young readers face is having quality literature and books to read on their specific reading levels. The other challenge they face, while learning to read, is having someone to read with or to at home. Imagine what it is like for my struggling readers over a looooooooong Holiday Break! Our students are out of school for TWO weeks and my young readers often find little attention as many parents have to continue their work schedules or are busy with all of the holiday distractions! Many students also do not have the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas as most of us know. Every child needs a good book and someone to read with at home! My project wish is to provide a book and buddy to each of my students. This will help bridge that reading gap and loneliness over the holiday break! Paired with the fun, exciting books I have chosen, each student will also get to choose a stuffed animal that I will provide. During the holiday season, students will be able to read their VERY OWN, new book to their new buddy and any other family member! Students will get to experience their own magical world with the books provided by this project. They will enjoy reading their book over and over to their buddy.
