The piano is an integral part of our music classes. It is the signal to start, a tool for improving listening skills, a way to keep the group together and of course it helps us sing. Every class is a chance for my students to enrich their lives through music. Learning new songs, how to read music notation and developing listening skills gives each child an opportunity to enjoy music their entire life, as a consumer and more importantly, as a music maker. We could still have music class if we had no piano, but having that piano there brings out the best in the students as well as the joy they receive from singing with that accompaniment..
