According to the Natural Hydration Council, children are at a greater risk of dehydration than adults as they have higher water requirements in relation to their body weight. Unlike adults, children usually have to ask for a drink, so rely on their parents/caregivers to keep them hydrated. Students must stay hydrated! Drinking water has been shown to improve mental performance, boost productivity and help concentration. Each student in my classroom has a cubby and a water bottle would fit easily into it for access throughout the day. Water is part of a healthy school day and a great lifetime habit.
