With the new science standards rolling out, we are trying to scramble to change our curriculum to meet the needs of these new standards. Unfortunately, the curriculum we need to teach the new Next Generation Science Standard has not been developed. That's why I need your help. You will be providing me materials to help teach my students the up-to-date standards that are expected of them. If I cannot teach to the standards in sixth grade, my students will not have the necessary preparation for subsequent grades. These resources will help me take abstract concepts in science and make them tangible and accessible, and hopefully closing or at least narrowing the achievement gap my students face. The National Geographic Hobby Rock Tumbler Kit will be used by students to further their exploration of rocks and minerals by providing an opportunity to discover their own gems. The LARGE 800 Piece Straws Builders Construction Building Toy - Giant Pack with Special Connectors by Playlearn, Asenart 24 Color Process Soft Clay Soft Polymer Environmental Clay Sets Good Toughness Creative Fun Studio Toys DIY, Serve Clean Round Toothpicks 5000 Count, and 4M Solar Rover Kits will be used by students to explore their engineering, as well whether or not their creations can withstand seismic activity with the ETA hand2mind 66467 Wobbletop Shake Table. The Tenn Well Bakers Twine, SGT KNOTS Twisted Nylon Mason Line, Elmer's Liquid School Glue, Washable, 1 Gallon (for refilling smaller glues), GLUE SCHOOL CRAYOLA 4 OZ, Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Animal Cell, Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Plant Cell, and SGT KNOTS Twisted Manila Rope will be used by students to create 3D cell models, as well as for engineering.
