Bienvenidos! I am a full-time high school ESL teacher to newcomer students who are in 11th and 12th grade. This is my 10th year teaching newcomer ESL students. Our school is entirely comprised of newcomer ESL students. These are older teenagers who arrive with little or no English. Most of them have only weeks or months in this country. This job is my passion. I have 76 students and my classes are growing with new students arriving almost daily. It's a huge responsibility but I love it. Almost all of my students are Hispanic but there are just a couple of Haitians in the mix. I want to keep the American Dream alive for these kids and give them the best shot at making it to college. In reality, they are arriving to this country late in the game and, so, they have a disadvantage in that sense. But these kids are so motivated and deserving of all of our time, energy, and resources. Thank you so much for reading this!
