My students love the ability to choose where they want to sit in the room. Providing them with alternate and comfortable seating options will expand the space and opportunities available. Having wiggle seats for those days students have extra energy will help all the students to focus. Being able to retreat to a quiet space to either finish work or to reset for the next part of the day will also be beneficial for my students. In addition, my students come in many different sizes, so having options for sitting on the floor will make it easier for some to be comfortable while still part of the class. Included in my shopping list are 'fidget' devices. I will use one of our new seating options and a basket filled with these items to create a quiet corner for refocusing and resetting for those times a student needs alone time.
