My goals are: - To get students reading at grade-level and with stamina. - To get students excited about reading. - To allow all of my students to find the book that will light the fire for a love of reading. - Give access to books for students who have no access to books or libraries. The research is clear: students get better at reading by reading. My students aren’t reading enough, and part of the problem is that they haven’t found the book yet. In my classroom, students get to choose every book they read throughout the year. I book talk books on a daily basis and even take them to the downtown library. Some students are still unable to get library cards, so I am looking to slowly furnished a substantial library of my own in my classroom.
