My gifted students will create an "Amazing Race" course using problems, puzzles, and reading excerpts. They need tape, cording, bolts, and invisible pens to create challenges throughout the race. For example, a ropes course will be created so students can manipulate a ping pong ball along the parachute cord course. Everything on the course will need to be color coded with tape so that the teams can all compete at the same time. Students will learn anything if you can make it fun and challenging. After creating the learning material my students will make challenges along the course by creating road blocks. These are critical thinking activities in which a team will have to choose one idea or another. Bolt stacking or carry ping pong balls with parachute cord. The activities are designed to heighten students problem-solving abilities as well as improve their social skills. Funds for this project will help this teacher not have to take so much out of pocket. I do not mind spending my money but at this point in the year funds are low and my students still need to have super creative lessons. After completing this amazing race my students will feel successful. They will have made new friendships with students that they may not have made friends with if not given the opportunity to work as a team to complete this race.
