My classroom was blessed with a Chromebook cart this year. With the Chromebooks, my students are able to collaborate daily in literature and writing. The Chromebooks allow students to learn and study their vocabulary words each week. The program we use has an audio component that students can use to learn how to pronounce the words correctly. The Chromebooks also provide students with a tremendous assortment of ebooks and audiobooks from our local library. Without earbuds for each student, they cannot utilize our new resources with the Chromebooks. One of the Common Core State Standards in 7th grade requires students to include multimedia components and visual displays in presentations. After collaborating on assignments and projects, my students need a way to present their work to the class from their Chromebooks. With the use of Chromecast, my students will be able to learn from each other by sharing their work with the class. My classroom is not yet at the level technologically to meet the needs as learners. This grant will help to close that gap.
