Everyday our classroom is buzzing with excitement and energy! Each time we start a new unit or read a new book the students are full of questions, connections, and deep thoughts. They continuously seek the answers through exploration and conversation. They love using technology as a resource to enhance their exploration, but as a Title One school, we have limited access to computers and tablets for our classroom. Each day during our literacy center block, my students travel to four different centers. They work on independent reading, writing, word work, and guided reading. I would love to add technology as a fifth station. I can only imagine their smiles and overwhelming sense of joy just thinking about it! They would be able to take advantage of countless reading apps and would surely benefit as readers, thanks to these resources. In addition to using the tablets for one hour each day during literacy centers, I would also make them readily available for student use during our ELA Unit. They would be able to watch videos and read articles closely related to the topics we are studying. They might even feel as if they have actually traveled to outer space to learn about the planets, or encounter a lion in its natural habitat to find out how it survives. I firmly believe that the addition of five Fire Kids Tablets to our classroom community will help make learning come alive!
