Hello! I teach middle school (7th and 8th grade) U.S. History at a middle school in Harlem. 95 percent of my students are enrolled in the free-or-reduced lunch program and our school, as a public school, relies on public funds for many of its operations. It is important that my students, many of whom identify as Black and Hispanic, see themselves in my curriculum and have the tools to equip themselves to exist in this country. Eager and energetic, hilarious and brilliant, my students strive to ask tough questions and tackle injustice each and every day. As a teacher of American history, I use my classroom space to interrogate critical questions that affect my students' lives and the lives of those who they love. This requires utilizing resources and providing access to the resources that make this possible.
