My students have very little experience with instrumental music and playing instruments. Not only are instruments fun to play, but they are a true application of the rhythms, note names, and other aspects of music theory that my students are learning. Having this application will strongly reinforce the concepts we have learned. Our school has no pitched percussion instruments, and I believe that Jumbie Jam Steel Pans are a great place to start! Not only are steel pans are great application of the standards we learn in class, but they also have a fascinating history for the students to learn about. On top of this, steel pans are a blast to play, the music is exciting and upbeat, and it will provide my students with more performance opportunities to show off their musical skills! We work so hard in class with few chances to show off our talents. We are so very excited to become a group of jammin' Jaguars!
