Many of my students feel disconnected from the curriculum and their struggle with reading is exacerbated by their inability to engage with, and enjoy the text. My students are lively and animated and enjoy learning the most when we can bring a theatrical element into the classroom. When students can physically connect with the text they are more likely to engage in the lessons and classroom activities. Bringing tangible objects to the classroom and getting my students up and moving as we read helps them make the connections they struggle with while reading.
