My students are amazing, great people. But many of them are reluctant readers. I've worked hard to expand the texts in my classroom library to be engaging and culturally relevant, but the actual space of my classroom library is dismal. I want to create a space where students want to sit down, curl up with a book and read. An inviting classroom library is essential to the pre-k and elementary classrooms; why not the secondary? I need cushions, pillows and a rug in order to make the space welcoming, as well as a few new books. Help me make my classroom library somewhere the kids want to be, instead of somewhere they have to be.
