We are really pushing for more parent involvement this year. Whether it's coming to volunteer during a special event, volunteering to help out in the classroom, participating in a special event, or supporting their student at home, we want families to know what is happening in our school. One way we do this is with our phone tree that will call parents weekly and give them the weeks highlights. Another way we do this is with the more traditional parent newsletters and information sheets. We like to use bright colored paper to help grab parents attention. In our newsletters we included information about upcoming events, successes we've had in our school, and ways for parents to get involved. At least once a week there is a school wide newsletter or event invitation going home. We like to use the different colors of papers to help distinguish between what type of information is being sent home. All to often the white papers just get lost in the shuffle, but that bright red or green paper grabs their attention and gets parents informed. We want more parent involvement any way we can get it!
