My students desperately need their own novels. We have been trying to read a trilogy by Sharon Draper with only 8 books. I have over 100 7th graders and 24 8th graders. I have been rotating the novels in their groups in an effort for everyone to read it. It makes finishing the novel very difficult because the kids are not able to take them home and read them at home. Also, because the novels are not theirs, they cannot annotate the novel. Many of my students have never had their own novel to read and they deserve that opportunity.
