Creating a safe place for students to learn during social distancing is a challenge. Having carpet squares will give my little, Pre-K friends a comfortable place to sit with clear boundaries for social distancing. The scissors, markers, and paint will give them their own materials, so they do not have to wait for items to be sanitized which will free teachers to give them more quality attention. By providing items they can identify as their own, my young students will gain some control over their environment which helps to alleviate their stress. They will be able to put their carpet squares on an X on the floor to give them more control, allow them to comfortably enjoy stories, and other group activities. The paints, markers, and scissors will give them a creative way to express their emotions during this chaotic time. With your help, I can create a safer environment that allows my students to be independent.
