I am asking for ten Chromebooks to ensure that all of my students are able to access important online programs that will meet the students' individual learning needs in reading each day. These programs will also collect data on student strengths and weaknesses that will help me to better plan lessons to bring all students to grade level and beyond. Additionally, I would like to use the computers to assign research projects and begin acclimating students to typing. The Maryland State Assessment (PARCC) is a test entirely on a computer. Students are expected to know how to read on a computer as well as type in a certain time frame. My students need the access so that they are able to do so. Our district recently purchased a wonderful learning tool for reading. The program, RAZ-Kids, provides students with hundreds of books on their individual instructional level, as well as learning tasks aligned with the Common Core Curriculum to go along with each book. Additionally, the program enables students to have books read aloud to them and can even record students reading the books. These ten Chromebooks would enable our students to access these personalized and technologically relevant materials in the classroom.
