As a veteran teacher, it is always my intent to get children engaged in school. I want them to love learning and look forward to coming to my class every day. Hands on activities are so important for young learners! I have many struggling readers who have difficulty staying focused, as well as many youngsters who are acquiring English as a second language and working on social skills. What better way to work on comprehension and language development than through the use of puppets? Hand puppets encourage conversations and creativity. Dramatic reenactments aid in comprehension skills, and creating original plays and scenes is a way to inspire even the most reluctant writers. Sometimes a little trip outside the box is just what a classroom needs!
