My students need opportunities for independent reading to expand their vocabulary. A classroom set of leveled readers for high schoolers will provide high interest options for our read to be ready initiative in Tennessee. Research has shown that literacy improves when students have opportunities to read independently. This is not only for elementary students but for high school students as well. Having a classroom library and a comfy spot to read will inspire my English Language Learners to read on their own. This project will make a difference in their lives by helping them grow their vocabulary and improve their literacy skills.
