We will be reading chapter books everyday in class if we receive funding. I believe the students are more successful if they are able to follow along while being read to, as well as, being given the chance to read aloud. Having the book in their hands gives us ample opportunity to dig deeper while doing interactive journals. The students are able to return to previous pages read to answer questions and take notes. I truly believe, if awarded the funding, our students will fall in love with reading even more as we dive deeper into reading The BFG and Hatchet! Moreover, the students will be more engaged in the story which will result in less discipline problems.
