My students are hard working, 9 to 10 year old who have a passion for reading. Our school serves a high poverty population. My students have diverse backgrounds, yet all strive for success in learning. A high percentage of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and are part of the backpack program (take bags of food home for the weekend). My students know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to. They are hard working, positive, dedicated learners. However, we lack the funding needed to provide students with some of the supplies necessary for academic success.
