Using the listed materials, the students will be able to get a good foundation of what is needed to be able to learn the basics of putting, driving and chipping. I am hoping that, with this program, we will be able to continue to add to the equipment, and develop a group of students who are also interested in participating in a middle school golf team. Thus, teaching them a whole new aspect of the game, being part of a team, and a fun healthy life style. I am hoping that with the help of this program students will build honesty, respect, sportsmanship, courtesy, good judgement, responsibility and confidence. Using golf games and teaching values such as golf etiquette; like shaking hands after a good putt, making sure their immediate area is safe before swinging a golf club (good judgement), congratulating a teammate (sportsmanship) can all be critical in teaching students core values and healthy habits. Students will experience a safe and positive atmosphere, all while learning that good values are important. At this stage of these high risk students' lives, teaching them to make healthy choices, in all environments, is a critical factor in becoming successful community members.
