These materials will be quickly implemented into the art classroom. The easels being a constant structure of our art studio on our tables and the air dry clay giving students a chance to make-and-take their ceramic projects home! During the pandemic, resource classes were not as comprehensive or hands-on as we all would have liked. To make up for many things we could not have during that time, I would like to give my students an opportunity to be in a real art studio! The presence of tools that resemble that of the artists we study will create an authentic representation of an art studio and help immerse students into the world of art and encourage their natural creativity. Our school is considered A+, meaning we learn through integration of the arts in both our resource and mainstream classrooms. The emphasis on the arts in our school has increased each year with grade-level teachers going more in-depth with artwork and historically relevant artists in their core-subject lessons. In order to make connections that students can understand and appreciate, a souped-up art room is exactly what they need! Working in an environment made especially for the Visual Arts will surely help in creating real-world connections to artists stidents learn about and the processes that go into the creation of meaningful art.
